Technical and Historical Notes: Gundam Astraea is the Earth Alliance's new prototype mobile suit specializing in close range combat. It's main weapon is the Proto Sword. The proto sword is a new type of close range sword which is mounted on Astraea's right arm. Out of and during combat the sword can folded back or ejected off the arm allowing the right hand to use another weapon if need be. Due to the lack of weapons the Astraea is a light-weighted mobile suit with high maneuverability which made up for Astraeas lack of weapons.
The Astraea was assigned to Setsuna F. Seiei after the mission of recovering the Gaia and due to his specialty in close range combat in a mobile suit.
