Code name: Murasame
Unit type: mass production transformable mobile suit
Manufacturer: Morgenroete, Inc
Operator: Orb Union
First deployment: unknown
Accommodation: pilot only, in standard cockpit in torso
Dimensions: overall height 17.82 meters
Weight: max gross weight 46.88 metric tons
Armor materials: unknown
Powerplant: ultracompact energy battery, power output rating unknown
Propulsion: unknown
Equipment and design features: sensors, range unknown
Fixed armaments: 2 x M2M5D 12.5mm CIWS, fire-lined, mounted in head; 4 x M2M5D 12.5mm CIWS, mounted on wings, operable only in mobile armor form; Type 70J Kai beam saber, stored on hips, hand-carried in use; Type 72 high-energy beam cannon, mounted on back, operable only in mobile armor form; anti-air missile launcher (4 x Type 66A air-to-air missile "Hayate"); shield, mounted on left arm in mobile suit mode
Optional hand armaments: Type 72 Kai "Ikazuchi" beam rifle, power rating unknown
Technical and Historical Notes: The Orb Union's MVF-M11C Murasame is a transformable mobile suit designed to replace the older MBF-M1 M1 Astray. Although the Murasame visually resembles the M1 Astray, it's dramatically different. Whereas the M1 Astray requires a Shrike rotor to hover in Earth's atmosphere, the Murasame can transform into a fighter plane-like mobile armor. The Murasame is armed with six CIWS guns, as well as a beam cannon and missile launcher. It is also armed with a beam rifle and beam saber for melee combat. As Orb's new main mass production mobile suit, the Murasame defends Orb's territorial waters and is deployed abroad when the Orb Union allies itself with the Earth Alliance (following the "Break the World" incident of October C.E. 73). A gold colored unit used by former ZAFT ace pilot Andrew Waltfeld is stored aboard the battleship Archangel. In addition to the standard Murasame, Orb also produces two variants: the Murasame Reconnaissance Type and the MVF-M12A Ootsukigata. (GSR) Because Gaia was stolen once again, Andrew Waltfeld returned to using his custom Murasame.
